AD Branded Solutions is based in Manchester, UK and provides branded merchandise and promotional products. The company has implemented various sustainability initiatives and certifications. These include ISO 14001, CDP reporting, adherence to the UNGC, and being a Living Wage Employer.
AD Branded Solutions came to Grain in 2023 for help in calculating their carbon footprint, with the end goal of setting a science-based net-zero target. There’s a greater expectation for clear sustainability commitments among their client base, and the organisation wanted to set out their plan.
Measuring the impact of carbon
We measured AD Branded Solution’s emissions for scopes 1, 2 and 3 using the GHG Protocol accounting and reporting principles. Scope 3 emissions formed a large proportion of the carbon footprint at 99%, with the majority from upstream sea freight. Moving forward, the company will aim to collect more detailed shipping data. They will also work with industry bodies focused on reducing the shipping industry’s emissions. In addition, they will aim to make their own deliveries as efficient as possible, through initiatives like UPS Carbon Neutral. Although a significantly smaller part of its footprint, the company is also tackling emissions from business travel and employee commuting.
Towards net zero
Using an estimated figure for 2022, AD Branded Solutions had independently invested in a carbon offsetting program through greenify. The carbon footprint was just under the amount offset, making AD Branded Solutions a carbon-neutral business for the year. AD Branded Solutions was a great organisation to work with. We look forward to the next phase of our work with them on their journey to net zero.
